To all of those who are suddenly outraged by the parenthood and the manatory ultrasound for abortions:
My one question is, where where you when the healthcare bill (aka Obamacare) was passed? Why were you not yelling and screaming about how the goverment has gone to far, how the goverment can not tell us what to do with our own bodies, ect. ect. ect. Although I bet most of you supported it.
To me, this bill is just the tip of the iceburg on what can come from Obamacare. I can not possibly understand how the VA Senate (it is a bipartasin bill after all) can tell somebody what to do with their own bodies. Of course, one could say that the government has every right to do this because it is killing an unborn child. However, as abortions are legal at this time (which is a whole different conversation) it is not right to make a woman go through the extra emotional stress of seeing what is going on with the baby. I guess they make the case that she is about to have a vacume cleaner suck an unborn child out of her, what could possibly with wrong with showing her what is going on inside of her first. (parden my bluntness). I look to take all emotion out of an arguemnt when I make a decision on something, so it comes down to this:
Since abortion is legal, the governemnt has no rights granted to them to force a woman to do something medically If this is some attempt to get rid of abortion, this is the wrong way to go. Somebody (perhaps the father of a child that the mother wants to be aborted) would need to file a lawsuit on the unborn childs behalf. It would need to make it to the SCOTUS and they would need to decided that being aborted is a violation of the unborn babies rights and would therfore overturn Roe V Wade. After all, abortion is not a right. It is simply legal because of a decision SCOTUS made. But to me this has nothing to do with abortion and everything to do with the government over stepping its constitual limits.
This to me brings me back to my original thought, why on earth are all these people not upset about Obamacare. If the goverment is in control of your heathcare, they will be able to control your life. Ask the people of China about being only allowed to have one child because the goverment says so. Is that the route we want to take in this country?
Simply put, the goverment needs to stick to the constition before anything is passed or enacted. Iv'e yet to read in that great document how the goverment is allowed to control your life to this level.
